SprezzaBox Review – Men’s Accessories Subscription Box #getdapper

Posted by Thomas on November 9, 2014

IMG_7125

SprezzaBox is a Men’s Accessories subscription. Every month you’ll receive several high quality accessories and a grooming item, all for $28 per month.  Items are chosen on the basis of the season and current trends – it’s a curated mix of accessories that ensure you will always look dapper. SprezzaBox kindly sent me this box for review.

IMG_7126

The packaging was crisp.IMG_7127 IMG_7128

I was very happy with my first look at all the items.IMG_7130

Salt + Dapper Nato Strap Watch Band ($15) Perfect for updating your timepiece for the season.IMG_7129

das boom everywhere lotion samples – This is one of my favorite grooming brands. I love the smell of them and the lotion feels great.IMG_7134

JUST A MEN Shoe Bag ($15) I’m not sure of the name of this brand but I sure like this shoe bag. The inside is somewhat fleecy and I know my shoes will be protected when they are packed. They have really awesome looking shoes though. IMG_7131

Bull + Moose Necktie ($39) This is an awesome necktie. I love the color and the texture. Bull + Moose is a veteran owned startup focused on creating quality (not cheap) neckwear at non-inflated prices. Every man can get behind that mission.IMG_7135

SprezzaBox is a well curated and welcome addition to men’s monthly subscription boxes. For $28 the November box included $70 of expertly curated products from new to me brands and one current favorite. I was impressed and think that in addition to clothes, an affordable but high quality monthly accessories subscription is an excellent idea.

Visit SprezzaBox to subscribe or to find out more about this monthly men’s accessories subscription.

Use coupon code RESCUE to save 30% on your first box if you want to try it out.

Bespoke Post Review: Highlands Box

IMG_7057

There were three color selections for the scarf and I chose the lighter gray with the dark gray stripes.IMG_7058

This is an 80″ long scarf and 15″ wide. Gilded Age sells this scarf for $125 so it’s pretty amazing to pick it up for $45. It’s very sharp looking.IMG_7059 IMG_7066

Paine Products’ Balsam Fir Incense – This smells great but all incense smells like incense when you burn it, so we’ll be passing ours along to an incense-loving hippie.IMG_7067

Port Products Grooming Trio – This is a great little set of detoxifying cleanser, shave cream, and daily moisturizer. The little pack is perfect for travel so I’m saving it for that.

This was an amazing box and it’s actually still available, so if you want to pick it up, use the code and get your scarf.  You can check out the new Bespoke Post boxes available for November here.

November Five Four Club Review & Coupon

IMG_6771

Five Four Club is a men’s clothing subscription club – sign up, pick a style profile and your sizes, and get clothes every month. I updated my style profile for this month to a “mix.” I loved the November shipment and so did my wife. I got a pair of awesome color block “Watson” socks ($12).

IMG_6773

Hayter Scarf ($25) The color in the first photo is more accurate. This scarf is perfect for the season. It’s a lightweight dressy scarf and the pattern is great.IMG_6772

I was frankly surprised to see another jacket – 2 months in a row – but I switched my profile this month so that probably explains it.IMG_6774

Croft Charcoal Jacket ($88) It’s made of a knit fabric and has an inside breast pocket.IMG_6775

I received $125 of clothing without doing anything, and that was awesome.  I’m hoping for a sweater next month – the one from a year ago is one of my most used clothing items.

Currently save $15 off your first month with code AFMOMMY15.  You can see all my Five Four Club Reviews here or sign up for Five Four Club. Also, new – see my guide to Five Four Club Jeans and Pants Sizing.

The Subscription: Birchbox Man
The Description: Birchbox Man is designed to introduce you to the best lifestyle and grooming products. Get monthly boxes of deluxe and travel-size samples of grooming products and lifestyle accessories. Grooming products include shaving, skincare, hair, and sweat control. Lifestyle accessories range from grill aprons, dress socks, and cufflinks, to folding sunglasses and bottle openers.

November 2014 Birchbox Man: Beard Box

IMG_6816

I tend to grow out my beard in the winter. It’s cold out. IMG_6818

  • Billy Jealousy Beard Wash ($2.50)
  • Zeus Beard Pear Wood Boar Bristle Beard Brush ($20)
  • Tweezerman GEAR Stainless Steel Facial Hair Scissors ($17)
  • Blackbird Beard Oil ($4.75)
  • Alfred Lane Vanguard Solid Cologne ($16)

This was a really awesome collection, just for the value.  I really needed an update on my beard scissors and these are top quality. I’m not sure that I’ll grow my beard out enough to use the brush but I was happy with the box. I like the Billy Jealousy brand and although I’m not sure my beard needs a separate shampoo, I’ll try it out. The Alfred Lane I’ve sampled before through Bespoke Post. It smells like Old Spice.

Threaded Canvas Review & Coupon – Shirt & Art Subscription Box – August 2014

Posted by Thomas on October 16, 2014

IMG_5574

Threaded Canvas is a subscription box that sends three artist designed t-shirts, a print, and 3 pieces of art “stuff” every month.  Threaded Canvas sent this box for my review – you can see the previous shirts I received on my wife’s blog. I have found them all very high quality and I have tossed tons of my old shirts in favor of these. It was really about time.

IMG_5911

Wilke HORSE Art Print ($15), “Dive” Postcard ($3), Sarah marie Hawkins Bookmark ($3), Lost Button ($3).  I enjoyed the surreal/post apocalyptic sort of theme for the month.

If you like anything in this reviews, you can also visit Threaded Canvas to pick up a mix-match box where you select the exact shirts – if available – for your box. These shirts are very soft and I love that.  If you want sleeveless or v-neck shirts, you can pay an upgrade fee for those options.IMG_5912

Reza aka Rejagulu: Water Colorink Tee ($25) I’m not really sure what this one is.
IMG_5915

Hector Mansilla Gonzales aka Againstbound: Lotus Tee ($25) IMG_5914Florent Bodart aka Speakerine: Burning Circles Tee ($25) My favorite of the bunch, although I liked and have worn all three.

At twenty bucks a month (plus $7 shipping), you’re running ten bucks give or take (depending on your options) for every high-quality unique tee shirt, and that’s a great deal.

Visit Threaded Canvas to sign up or find out more about this subscription. You can also get 10% off your first box with the coupon code from my wife’s blog – mommysplurge10!

October 2014 #Mantry Review & $25 Coupon – Men’s Gourmet Subscription Box

IMG_5787 Mantry is a very cool subscription box that features strictly American-made gourmet foods in a monthly theme shipped in a very awesome crate.  It’s like what you would get at the fancy grocery store when your wife is out of town.

The Subscription: Mantry The Description: Mantry is the food of the month club for the modern man. Discover artisinal American food and figure out what to do with it with Mantry. Take the hassle of finding new gourmet tastes. The Price: $75 per month.

October 2014 Mantry: Salty Dog

IMG_5786
The theme this month is “salty dog” and it features the best gourmet products inspired by the sea. IMG_5777
Woof.IMG_5781
The information card has details on each food and where it was produced. IMG_5780

Butter & Sea Salt Halfpops ($4.29) Al dente comes to popcorn.  The chew on these is addictive but won’t break your teeth.
Liddabit Sweets Sea Salt Caramels ($8) Salted caramel has been trending for a while now, but these show that the trend is far from played out.  Sweet with a salty accent, these caramels are surprisingly tender and delightful.  Worthwhile even if you don’t have a real sweet tooth.
Island Trollers Wild Pacific Jalapeno Albacore Tuna ($6) Nature’s near-perfect protein gets a spicy kick.  This is the Pacific Northwest’s finest, lovingly canned and ready for a post-workout feeding or lazy man’s lunch.
Bar Harbor Foods New England Clam Chowder ($4) For those who never really understood the allure of soup, real chowder is the answer.  Rich, creamy, and packed with clams, this is the perfect cold-weather no-fuss supper.
Coop’s Micro Creamery Hot Fudge ($11) Nothing beats fudge on vanilla ice cream for a classic sundae.  This gourmet version comes complete in its classic and unique packaging.
White Whale Cocktails The Filthy Liar ($11.50)  This classy mixer puts the perpetually underrated rosemary to work.  Clove adds the bitter bite, and lychee adds some refreshing sweetness (kiwi is the closest analog I can think of).  Add gin or vodka (soda optional) and you have a nice twist on a classic highball.

This sea-inspired assortment was delightfully seaweed free.

Visit Mantry to find out more about this monthly gourmet subscription and to save $25 on your first box of manly deliciousness (just use the link for the coupon).
