It’s an excellent service for a busy guy. For this delivery I opted for 4 surprise items “For the Weekend.”

February 2015 Bombfell

How Bombfell Works: When you sign up for Bombfell you fill out a style profile including all your measurements. You can also select the frequency (sometimes I set my Bombfell to come bi-monthly) and what you’d like to receive. You can pick out what you want clothes for (office, dates, weekend, basics, etc.) as well as the precise type of item you want (e.g., sport coat, jeans, t-shirt), as well as your budget. You can also select to be surprised.

 IMG_8780

Big Star Union Brushed Straight Twill Pants ($99) These were not really my style, and there was a warning about bleeding fabric (which I appreciated, but doesn’t work for a dude who washes 2 adults’ and 3 kids’ clothes).IMG_8781

I sent these ones back and am hoping for a different style next time (I loved the Penguin wool pants I received in my last shipment).IMG_8783

French Connection Waffle Henley ($56) Loved the style of this so I kept it.  It looks great and is an excellent layer.IMG_8785

Johnnie-O Gingham Buttondown ($69) Easily my favorite shirt – loved the style, construction, the pre-washed fabric, and the “Tweener.”IMG_8789

You can tell my wife loved it too because she took a picture of it. This is perfect for me.IMG_8786

Descendant of Thieves Script Utility Vest ($79) I expected to hate this, and I totally didn’t. It’s some sort of limited edition in this style, I’m not sure of the details, but it was actually a great vest – but this brand runs small and it was snug on my midsection.IMG_8787

This was definitely unexpected but appreciated selection.IMG_8793

Plus you can store your piece in it. (My wife had way too much fun with photos this month.)IMG_8778

Bombfell usually includes some sort of silly doo-dad. These are great to give to your kids to keep their hands off the clothes.

February was a great month for Bombfell. I kept 2 items and returned the other two (free shipping). I selected four more surprise me items for the weekend for later this month. I prefer that good in-between style since I currently don’t need any strict office-wear. What have you been selecting?

November 2014 Bombfell Review

Bombfell is a men’s clothing and personal styling subscription service. For November I got a replacement for the too-small pants from last month, plus 3 additional items. With Bombfell, you get sent the clothing, can try it on at home, and then figure out what you love and want to purchase. It’s an excellent service for a busy guy.

The clothes arrived tagged, and in plastic. IMG_6654

Two different pairs of Penguin Chinos – both 36×32, one was slim fit and one was straight fit. The Slim was far too slim with me, and I returned it. I love these pants and kept the regular fit ($98). As my wife would gladly tell you, I would never have selected these on my own.IMG_6655

PX Clothing Olive Shirt ($49) and PX Clothing Heather Henley ($25).

This was a new to me brand, here’s the information:

PX clothing is a unique line based in Los Angeles, California. Influenced by the trends and lifestyle of southern California, PX has carved out its own niche in the fashion industry with garments that have both great style and incredible comfort. Known for its high-quality fabrics, innovative fashion details, and unique art and graphics, PX currently retails in major department stores and boutiques throughout the U.S., Japan, Canada, and Central America.

I kept the henley and returned the shirt because it was a bit snug. I skipped my most recent shipment because we were a bit busy, but my next shipment is scheduled for January 23. I opted for 4 surprise items “For the Weekend.”

Bombfell is a men’s clothing and personal styling subscription service. This month I elected to be sent 4 surprise items. You get sent the clothing, can try it on at home, and then figure out what you love and want to purchase. It’s an excellent service for a busy guy.

IMG_7189

All the items come wrapped up in plastic. I got a little Family Guy toy/desk accessory with my order.IMG_7218

Maker & Company The Morish Slim Wallet ($44) This is a great wallet, but much brighter than in the photo. The little card case slides out in addition to the regular wallet features. I liked that a lot, but I didn’t care for the color (Note from wife – I would have kept it because Tom is always misplacing his wallet somewhere in the house).IMG_7219

Cutter & Buck Epic Easy Care Mini Herringbone Long Sleeve Shirt ($59) Wife didn’t like the pattern. Returned.IMG_7220

Clique by Cutter & Buck Performance Tee ($19) This shirt didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t dig the Cutter & Buck items so they got sent back. IMG_7222

Original Penguin Perfect Flannel Chinos ($98) I absolutely loved everything about these except the 34″ waist. I returned to try on a larger size. We just checked my account and for some reason my measurements were missing from the account. Hopefully the addition of them will help select clothes that fit the first time. These were classy wool flannel chinos and I would buy them as long as I could wear them.

Although I loved the pants I didn’t feel that this stylist was sending me great clothes overall. We looked up Cutter & Buck and it looked like a golf brand. Since I don’t live the golf/country club lifestyle, I requested a new stylist from my account.  I printed out the return label and marked what I was returning and handed off the box to USPS the next time they visited.

September 2014 Bombfell

It’s not really a surprise as you receive an email from your stylist in advance of the shipment. I find this immensely helpful and non wasteful. There are just some items of clothing I wouldn’t wear. This wasn’t one of them, so I had it shipped.

IMG_5021

It comes in an outer mailer wrapped in plastic. There’s usually some sort of a silly toy – my daughter took this one to play with, but if you don’t have kids, it’s a fun desk toy/twiddly bit.

IMG_5020

I got the Johnnie-O 4 button short sleeve polo in “Green Machine” ($69) This is a high quality surf-inspired polo that is pre-weathered. I really liked the looks of it and the color is great.

I love that this is a nice cotton jersey instead of a staid pique traditional polo shirt. I also find the stylists’ sizing notes helpful. I keep my measurements on file with Bombfell and they are able to send me the correct size for that particular piece of clothing, regardless of what it says on the label.

December 2013 Bombfell:

I had “Surprise Me” selected. Bombfell emails you the items your stylist has selected in advance and you can swap them out or dump them, or skip the month entirely. When I saw the photo of my December shipment, I decided I liked it and had it shipped to me.

Big Star Henley

Big Star Henley

Eitan Henley by Big Star ($58) This made in the USA henley is great quality. I love the maroon color and the style. It was a relaxed fit so this henley was perfect for my holiday gorgefest.

I updated my Bombfell selections to get a pair of pants for the office. I enjoy Bombfell‘s selections and am interested in seeing what they send for that situation.

October Bombfell Review

Hooray for Bombfell! I received my latest shipment like clockwork and Bombfell even applied the size preferences I had expressed on the return of my last shipment (I opted for a roomier shirt and snugger pants than I had initially selected).

October 2013 Bombfell:

Howe fast living twill pants ($79) Great pants made of a very rugged material (think Carhart, except in a color other than brown). Comfy and not overly styled.

My selection was in a deep slate gray with almost bluish undertones; a Really cool color.

Penguin heritage slim fit window pane button down in pomegranate ($69) I’m loving the penguin shirts. My last order had a tight checkered pattern (seersuckeresque) and the one prior to that was a nice polo. this order mixed it up with a nice rich red/purple saturated buttondown.

The pattern has a classic feel to it but there’s transitional shading adjacent to the lines which is a nice detail.

Bombfell Review – August Shipment

Bombfell is a men’s personal styling clothing subscription. You fill out a medium-length profile and allow your personal stylist to select clothing for you based on your size and personal preferences. You are presented with your picks before they are mailed. Typically you only get one item, though you can request more, as I did here.
After receipt, you have ten days to try out your Bombfell selections Here’s what I got in my first Bombfell shipment.

August 2013 Bombfell: Mostly Penguin

Penguin Prince of Wales Check Shirt ($69) This dress shirt fit well, but I’m not sure it’s exactly my style. Perhaps a little too kingpin for my personal tastes.

life/after/denim Slim Fit Chino ($69) I requested that these pants not be shipped to me. Not a problem.

Big Star Union Straight Jeans ($69) I liked these jeans, but they fit a bit large. I’ll send them back and have my stylist select a new pair.

Original Penguin The Bing One-Pocket Tee ($19) This was a great shirt. I thought the stitching added some extra class to a basic tee. I really enjoyed the Penguin picks.

Original Penguin Oxford Trim Daddy-O Classic Fit Polo ($55) I typically don’t care for pique polo shirts but this one was very soft with a very small pique knit.

The Bombfell package also included a couple of surprises – a South Park ball, and a measuring tape. I’ll use both.

I am sure that over time the Bombfell stylists will learn my preferences, but I’m extremely pleased with my selection. I don’t have to keep anything I don’t want to keep and the Bombfell stylists will continue to send me new clothes. I kept the Penguin Tee & Penguin polo.
